Samsung timed the presentation of its latest series of the Galaxy S product line for the beginning of the year: the S22 and S22+ mobile phones are available worldwide since March 11, and the S22 Ultra since February 25. According to the WhatMobile Reviews, the biggest novelty this time was the photo quality improvement, experienced while capturing the night shots.
As we have become accustomed to in recent years, the Galaxy S product line also includes three models this year: there are the Galaxy S22 and S22+, which differ mainly in the size of the display and battery, and there is also the S22 Ultra. On the one hand, the latter represents the current absolute peak in the manufacturer’s range in terms of cameras, and on the other hand, with the disappearance of the Galaxy Note product line, this has become the mobile phone from Samsung that already comes with the S-Pen stylus as standard.
Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+
For its entry-level flagship phones, Samsung has not changed much from the design introduced last year: the rear camera island once again merges with the aluminum frame, but at the same time, the change is that instead of the plastic back panel in 2021, glass has returned again, in a matte finish, with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection – the same feature also on the screen. This time, we get 6.1 (S22) and 6.6 (S22+) inch versions of the display (Dynamic AMOLED 2X, FHD+; 120 Hz), and apart from the size, the only difference between the two mobiles is this and the size of the battery.
The S22 has a 3700 milliampere-hour battery, which makes it feel very slim in 2022, and the S22+ has a 4500 milliampere-hour battery, which sounds two degrees better.
This is also the case with fast charging: the S22+ is already capable of 45 watts via wire, while the plain S22 still has a maximum of 25 watts. None of them are outstanding performance (just think of the Xiaomi 11T Pro ), but it is rather disappointing that Samsung is still able to launch phones more expensive than 300,000 with 25 watts as the maximum charging option. And let’s add to this that the ceiling for wireless charging is still 15 watts for both devices.
As for the hardware, there are no big surprises: in Europe, the devices are sold with Samsung’s own Exynos 2200 chip, made with four-nanometer manufacturing technology, which is complemented by 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. As for the cameras, according to Samsung’s announcement, the biggest improvement is expected on this front thanks to the 23 percent larger sensor and the new adaptive pixel sensor. Thanks to these, the camera can collect more light, so more detailed and vivid images can be taken, even in the dark, with the new camera function called Nightography. Both models have a 50-megapixel main camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens on the back, and a 10-megapixel selfie unit on the front.

Galaxy S22 Ultra
Samsung’s absolute top mobile phone is the S22 Ultra this time, which has also changed externally compared to last year’s model: the camera island has completely disappeared from the back, and the various units now emerge directly from the glass cover, also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The display is 6.8 inches, apart from the resolution, we get the same panel (Dynamic AMOLED 2X, QHD+; 120 Hz) as the other two models, and the hardware is not necessarily stronger either. Here, too, there is an Exynos 2200 chipset under the cover, with the difference that in addition to the 8, you can also choose a 12 GB version, and 512 GB is available from the back-end storage in addition to the 256 and 128. In addition to the size and shape, one of the biggest differences compared to the other two phones is that the S22 Ultra is already sold with an S-Pen stylus, and the pen also has a place in the device body, it can be popped out from the bottom, like the old Galaxy Note devices case.
Ultra already received the support last year, but then you had to purchase the S-Pen separately for the mobile phone. We get a 5,000 milliampere-hour battery as a battery, but the wired charging here is a maximum of 45 watts, and the wireless charging is also only 15 watts – here again, it is worth noting that the maximum is 120 watts in the case of the 200,000 cheaper Xiaomi 11T Pro. Although it is true that the wireless solution was completely eliminated from that phone, the compatible charging head is part of the package, which Samsung does not pack with its mobile phones this year either. You can also use the e-sim options in various mobiles, For instance, here are some of the top e-sim options for beginners, https://esims.com/airalo/
We have a 108-megapixel main unit, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and two telephoto cameras at our disposal (accompanied by an extra sensor). Both telephoto modules are 10 megapixels, with the basic version 3x, while with the periscope solution 10x optical magnification is available. Of course, the maximum 100x digital zoom is also now available, which will probably make as little sense in practice as in the case of previous Ultra variants. Samsung also emphasizes with this model that thanks to the new Nightography mode, wonderful evening photos can be taken, not only with the lenses on the back but also with the 40-megapixel camera on the front. If you want to enjoy a good photography experience on a budget, you can always see the current options on the Infinix price list. Of course, we will find out how true this is when we have the opportunity to test the device.
