The Skincare Mistakes That Lead to You Needing Acne Wash

Why do people end up needing to use acne wash products? Well, it could be a natural predisposition or the climate. Are they the only reasons? Of course not, as there are a myriad of factors at play with anyone’s complexion. Sometimes, it can even be down to the mistakes you’re making as part of your daily skin upkeep.

In this article, we look into the most common types of skin mistakes that can end up contributing to the regularity of your breakouts. You might think that there’s nothing wrong with how you look after your skin, but you never know, and it’s certainly worth checking out.

The Skincare Mistakes That Lead to the Need For Acne Wash

Coping with seemingly endless acne breakouts can be misery-making, so you absolutely don’t want your skincare routine to contribute to it in any way. The trouble is, there are things you could be doing that lead you to need your acne wash even more. So, what are they?

Mistake #1 – Overdoing the Exfoliation & Cleansing

When you’re desperate to get rid of your acne, it can be easy to carried away and overuse your products. Unfortunately, this overuse will cause more problems instead of helping. Exfoliation and cleansing should be kept to the recommended levels (1-2 times a day, depending on your complexion).

If you do, this will only serve to dry out your skin and trigger more oil production. Both are changes you don’t want to occur, as they will set back your quest for clearer skin.

Mistake #2 – Using More Than One Type of Acne Product

Using BP washes on their own can cause irritation, and it takes a little while for your skin to get used to it. As such, if you apply more than one type of product that contains benzoyl peroxide, your skin won’t be able to handle it – leading to excessive dryness and inflammation.

Again, don’t overdo things by being impatient and pushing your skin too far. One type of BP wash will get you the results you crave – so there’s no need to add another to the equation. If you do, you’re just asking for skin problems.

Mistake #3 – Giving into Temptation & Picking Those Zits

When you’ve got zits, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as popping them with a view to getting rid of their unsightly appearance. Sadly, while it might be easy to fall into, you should avoid doing so like the plague. Picking may be satisfying, but it spreads bacteria all around your face – fast.

That’s not the only issue you’ve got with picking, either, as it can lead to permanent damage and scarring – something that pretty much stays with you forever.

Do The Right Things & Allow Your Acne Wash to Work

You truly do have to avoid everything you might be doing to dry out your skin, so overwashing and treating the problem with too many products is not the way to go. You could be forgiven for thinking that running at the problem headlong would be the thing to do, but patience goes a long way with skincare.

Stick to the recommended frequency of your acne products, and never EVER pick those zits – no matter how tempting it might be. The skin is the body’s largest organ, and you need to treat it with tender loving care, and that means being gentle. The moment you lose your patience, gentleness goes out of the window and redness is rarely far behind.
