5 Best Thing Must Do In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Are you planning to visit Kuala Lumpur? But I don’t know where to go, which scenic spot to start exploring? Then take a look at the must-see attractions I have prepared for you! Check out these top 5 things to do in Kuala Lumpur, there are definitely some that you must put on your Kuala Lumpur itinerary!

1. Sunway Lagoon Theme Park

Sunway Water Park Theme Park, situated in Petaling Jaya, a thriving satellite city about 15 km southwest of Kuala Lumpur, is a rare treat for visitors seeking both water and dryland activities. Sunway Lagoon’s water park is Malaysia’s most popular and offers a wide range of water rides, including the first surfing simulator in the country, FlowRider.

Competitions are often held here, as well as surfing and boarding events in the wave pool on weekends. The Congo Challenge is another popular ride where thrill-seekers spin around a giant African python before encountering the snake itself.

Sunway Lagoon’s amusement park, consisting of the Wild West and Adventure World, is where all the exciting adventure activities take place. The Wild West section has standard thrill rides and interactive safari parks where visitors can stroke giant turtles and pet hamsters, while the Grand Canyon Rapids are a favorite of adults and children alike.

For those who wish to channel their inner Tarzan and Jane, the wildlife park is the place to be. This is Malaysia’s first fully interactive wildlife exhibition featuring educational attractions and live animal performances based on the theme of animals. The park is home to more than 150 animals from around the world.

2. Jalan Alor at Bukit Bintang

Jalan Alor is a well-known food destination in Kuala Lumpur, popular for its numerous hawker stalls and seafood restaurants. It’s situated behind Jalan Bukit Bintang and just a short stroll from Changkat Bukit Bintang, the nightlife hub of the Golden Triangle area.

Jalan Alor is renowned for showcasing the local cuisine of the city, but it’s often overlooked by tourists due to its somewhat hidden location. It stands in stark contrast to the trendy Jalan Bukit Bintang and Changkat Bukit Bintang, boasting a traditional charm with air-conditioned Chinese seafood eateries, luminous restaurant signboards, and small red Chinese lanterns hanging from trees.

Although a bit chaotic, the endless rows of hawker stalls lining the five-foot-way and plastic tables and chairs that spill out onto the street contribute to the unique experience that is Jalan Alor.

3. Aquaria KLCC

Aquaria KLCC is well-known for being one of the biggest aquariums in Southeast Asia, with over 150 species of marine life, and it is located in the lobby of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Its highlights include tiger sharks, sea snakes, coral fish, seahorses, and many more.

This well-stocked aquarium is worth exploring for hours to see the 5,000+ freshwater and marine creatures, such as giant groupers, anchovies, and fishes. One of the main attractions is a 90m long tunnel with a moving walkway in the middle, which leads through a massive tank with the wreckage of a real shipwreck.

On the second floor, visitors can explore the Amazon flooded forest, home to oversized arapaimas, red-tailed catfish, and other wildlife. Next, the coast exhibits archerfish and seahorses. Finally, deep-sea creatures such as octopuses and large fantail rays can be viewed in the marine aquarium. Fishing sessions are also available on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

4. Central Market Kuala Lumpur

Central Market, a famous landmark in Kuala Lumpur and popular among tourists, is located near Petaling Street in Jalan Hang Kasturi. Initially a wet market built in 1928, it was transformed into a handicraft store in the early 1980s. Central Market is now home to numerous art galleries, boutiques, souvenir stalls, and vendors selling authentic Malaysian batik prints.

The Art Deco building with local “Baroque” decoration is considered a cultural heritage site in Malaysia and is classified as such by the Ministry of National Heritage. Similar to Covent Garden in London and Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, Central Market has undergone several renovations over the years to attract younger generations and promote racial tolerance and integration.

5. Perdana Botanical Garden

The Tun Abdul Razak Heritage Park, also known as Lake Gardens, is a leisure park in the center of Kuala Lumpur that boasts the largest collection of gardens and animal parks. It is a popular weekend destination for locals who enjoy a variety of activities on the main square and along lakeside walks and scenic hills.

One of the main attractions of the Perdana Botanical Gardens is Malaysia’s national flower, the hibiscus. Located just a short 10-minute drive from the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park, this picturesque garden boasts a charming colonial-era building that hosts delightful tea rooms and a gallery that displays the history and importance of Malaysia’s national flower, the hibiscus.

Located between two gardens, Laman Perdana offers various activities on the main square. The area adjacent to the man-made lake is equipped with spacious and transparent canopies, as well as a cafe that offers refreshments and light bites. Moreover, there is a pavilion that provides a scenic view of the garden.

Of course, there are many more attractions to explore in Kuala Lumpur besides those mentioned. If you are planning a trip, it is important to consider transportation. One option that I would recommend is taking a private car service from Singapore to KL (Kuala Lumpur), with my favorite being SGMYTRIPS.

They made my trip much easier! I didn’t have to worry about crossing the border or waiting in long lines. Everything was simple. They picked us up at our designated location, including our doorstep or office door, and their professional and experienced driver took us to our destination. It is worth noting that the driver knows the shortest route, ensuring efficient travel.

Compared to public transportation, taking a private car from KL to Singapore can provide greater peace of mind, as all we need to do is sit back, relax, and wait to arrive at our destination.
